How to make canvas shoes water repellant.

Rub one of the shoes thoroughly with the wax candle particularly to the junction between the sole and the canvas. The whole shoe will then be a powdery white.

Now using the hairdryer apply maximum heat to the wax covered shoe (use the oven gloves at this stage). The wax will melt and merge with the canvas fibers. the whiteness disappears and the shoe is now water repellant.

Now let’s compare the two shoes. Throw water over them both. The untreated shoe has absorbed the water while the waxed shoe remains dry.
